Hi, Thought I would start a new topic. What are your riding goals for 2006?
I think starting a new topic is a marvey idea, Taylor - let's all try to keep on the same topic.
Riding goals eh....well I don't know if I have any :) All the girls riding Monty are doing such a faboo job, that I don't really need to do anything but watch and enjoy, which I am really looking forward to doing this coming show season.
I am really hoping we get a good turnout for the off property shows this year - that would be my "riding" goal for 2006.

My riding goal is to get through the riding show season both on and off property with Toby. And oh yeah with me in 1 piece. My other goal is to be a better rider. I still have some things to work on. And just like Gabby.. Jump HIGHER!!
lol talking with letters and words not symbols.. i want to not look at the jump get sum lower leg muscle work on super model shoulders and yea thats about it i luv dylie but i miss Oreo:(:(
aww this was nice in skool if we make a goal which is after every assignment (GRR) we have to like write a hole page about how were going to do it and be specific lol
Hmm riding goals...well this could take awhile cause Prince and I have alot to work on. Mostly I want us to both be able to trust each other, thats my number one goal. Also to bond with him and get to know him as much as I can so we can perfect everything little by little...soon before you know it he will be showing like a mad man!!!
It's not really the hieght that I care about now. It's mostly making sure we can get over a fence not looking like retards. I could honestly jump like 2'3 with him and as long as we do good than I'm happy with that. It used to really make a big deal till I realised that yea jumping high is fun but as long as you look good, and know what you are doing. Besides it majorly depends on the horse that you are riding and if they are up to it. If what i just said makes any sense to anyone lol cause i never know what i am talking about.

I was only referring to the girls who ride Monty because Monty is my horse that I ride and the original question was what are your RIDING goals. I was simply saying that because the girls that ride Monty are doing so well, there is no need for me to ride him, that's all.

Its great that everyone has set goals for themselves for the upcoming riding season! I've had an opportunity to watch most of you from this message board ride, and I know that you're all on your way to becoming the best riders you can be! Keep up the hard work throughout the winter and it will pay off come the warmer weather!
But I have a suggestion..... Instead of saying "I want to show" or "I want to jump higher" you should really step back, evaluate your ride and focus in on a few specific weaknesses. Every rider has their weaknesses. Every rider has problem areas that they need to work on. Some riders have a steady leg but their hands are a little too hard on the horse's mouth. Some riders have nice, supple hands but their balance is off and they can't get the correct lead nor can they find a nice distance to a fence. Myself, I have a tendancy to look down over my fences. This changes the line of my back, makes it harder to find a comfortable distance and does not support a horse over higher fences. I always have to remind myself to keep my eyes forward so that I can help my horse navigate each obstacle in a smooth and acurate manner. My coach ingrained it in my head that everytime I get on a horse I need to be very aware of my weakness and correct it before it interferes with my ride. This winter, everytime you get on your horse try to be aware of your weakness and fix it. The correct ride will end up becoming second nature and your reminders to yourself will be be farther and fewer between.
If you concentrate on your position and the "ride" that you need to give your horse, the showing and the higher fences will come naturally.
If any of you want to have a clear idea of what you need to work on over the winter, ask your coach - thats what we're here for!

And Helen, my god girl you've learned a lot in the last 6 months! I'm very proud of you. You do listen!
umm i want the experience of off property shows and even if i don't place i'm happy b/c i actually went and i hope to get stronger while riding sabs this winter!
To all the riders of WES! Good luck on making your goals happen.....I know if you all work hard it will! I'm so glad to here you guys love Sabs...shes a great ride and you will all learn ALOT from here. Atip though the only thing that will make you and Sabrina match is love! So love her as much as I do. Same goes with all the other riders and your ponys/horses!
lol i luv them all and sabs is so cute it's funni cuz when u go in her stall she doesn't like you but as soon as shes out of the stall she's all happy but shes always lovely in her own special way lol
umm well for sure i'm riding her 4 the winter & prob after and allicia wants me 2 show her so i might and just do small jumps like crossrail or like 2f. umm i really like sabs b/c she nice and also shes gonna make me a better rider becasue shes more of a challenge compared 2 oreo ( i love u still oreo) but i think i'll get stronger and go farther with her!
